Dexter’s Castles started in a slightly different way to most bouncy castle businesses.

After closing down CK Castles in Cheltenham, selling off the larger inflatables and moving over to the Thornbury/Dursley area, I genuinely thought my bouncy castle days were behind me.

My 5-year-old son Dexter had other ideas.

He wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye to all of “his bouncy castles”, so rather than selling everything, we kept a small selection of our favourite inflatables — and Dexter’s Castles was born.

We’re now offering bouncy castle and inflatable hire across Thornbury, Dursley and the surrounding areas, but we have no intention of turning it back into a huge hire operation.

Dexter’s Castles is deliberately small, local and family-run.

The idea is to create something Dexter can grow up around and gradually become involved with. As he gets older, he can learn about looking after the equipment, helping customers, earning money, taking responsibility and understanding the hard work that goes into running a little business.

He might only be five, so Dad will obviously be doing most of the heavy lifting for a while yet! But everyone has to start somewhere.

So if a little lad turns up alongside Dad when we deliver your castle, you’ll know who the real boss is.
